"Weird Al" Yankovic

Alfred Matthew "Weird Al" Yankovic (born October 23, 1959) is an American musician best known for his parodies of contemporary radio hits. His lyrics depend largely on the satirizing of popular culture including television, movies, food, music, and news stories. Though parodies earned him his fame, Yankovic has recorded a greater number of humorous songs with original tunes. Some of these pieces are pastiches (or style parodies), where he chooses a band's entire body of work to emulate rather than any single hit. Most of his albums include a medley which juxtaposes the choruses of various songs in a polka style to accordion music. Due to his popularity, he has been credited with several songs that are not actually his. A full list of every song he has ever actually done, including the live-only songs, can be found at the Al Songs website. In 2006, Al released the song "You're Pitiful", on his website as a free download. However, while James Blunt gave his blessing for the parody of his song, Blunt's label Atlantic Records was opposed to it. Though parodies are protected legally, the issue had become "more of a political matter than a legal matter", according to Al, so he decided to not put the song on his next album. His latest album, "Straight Outta Lynwood", was released September 26th, 2006. Its first single, "Don't Download This Song", was made available as a free download on August 21, 2006. The animated video for the track and a link to downloadable MP3 is available at dontdownloadthissong.com. Among other tracks, the album includes parodies of Green Day, Usher, R. Kelly, and chamillionaire. Chamillionaire's "Ridin' Dirty" is parodied as "White and Nerdy", the second single from the new album. This single has thus far climbed as far as #9 on the Billboard Singles chart, eclipsing "Eat It" as Al's highest charting single (which went as high as #12). Посмотрел клипчек, весело, но щас у меня не то настроение такое слушать....

Слушал только альбом Straight Outta Lynwood (2006), очень понравился, это нечто. Конечно, просто слушать его как любой другой зарубежный альбом, не вслушиваясь в слова, бессмысленнно. Главная его фишка в текстах, каждая песня это пародия на различные вещи. Например, "Virus Alert" - пародия на боязнь вирусов, песня о "страшных" вирусах, которые после установки "Erase your hard drive and your backups too And the hard drive of anyone related to you". Или "Weasel Stomping Day" (weasel - это горностай или ласка) - пародия на всякие Christmas songs, о празднике, в который все люди выходят на улицы и начинают топтать горностаев и ломать им хребты. Но главный шедевр этого альбома - "Trapped in the Drive-Thru" - самая банальная песня, из всех, что можно придумать, пародия на всякие рнб'эшные песни ни о чем. В течении 10 минут идет описание того, как муж с женой решили пообедать и поехали в закусочную. В таком стиле: So we head out the front door Open the garage door Then I open the car doors And we get in those car doors Put my key in the ignition And then I turn it sideways Then we fasten our seat belts As we pull out the driveway В общем советую тем, кто нормально знает английский и хочет посмеяться, послушать альбом и почитать тексты.
